Oracle DBA versus SQL DBA

Most database professionals tend to focus on one relational database management system. My believe was that if you know the theory behind relational theory you would think it would be easier to learn other systems overnight. This theory may be true if you are a database designer/developer but if you are a core DBA there is a lot of things that you need to learn. I am in early stages (two days to be precise) start looking into oracle database. It seems to me a lot of up hill to begin with. I have worked with SQL server for the last 8 years.

In the months to come I will try to write some pros and cons of moving to Oracle DB after spending 8 good years working with SQL server.
